JAMB Registrar Prof. Aina has overseen the resolution of more than 5,000 pending and unresolved complaints within five days, following his decision to take a hands-on approach to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s (JAMB) complaint-resolution process.
The development was disclosed by JAMB’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, who said the intervention was aimed at strengthening the Board’s Service Compact with All Nigerians

JAMB Registrar Prof. Aina Moves to SERVICOM Unit
Rather than simply receive reports about unresolved complaints, Prof. Segun Aina reportedly relocated his seat to the SERVICOM Unit to gain first-hand knowledge of the challenges being experienced by candidates.
According to JAMB, the Registrar also directed SERVICOM desk officers to handle complaints holistically and promptly, with particular attention to genuine cases that require intervention.
The initiative forms part of Aina’s Five Enduring Pillars, particularly the second pillar, described as “Service at Heart.” The approach is intended to improve the Board’s responsiveness and ensure that candidates receive services commensurate with the fees they pay. (The Guardian Nigeria)
What JAMB Complaints Were Resolved?
The more than 5,000 complaints reportedly covered different challenges faced by candidates before, during and after the UTME process.
Profile Code and Phone Number Issues
Some candidates had difficulties generating their JAMB profile codes because they no longer had access to the telephone numbers used during previous registrations.
This can create difficulties for candidates who have changed their phone numbers, lost their SIM cards or otherwise lost access to their previously registered lines.
Biometric Verification Problems
Biometric verification challenges were also among the complaints reviewed.
JAMB said some cases were identified as genuine biometric failures experienced during UTME registration or the examination process.
JAMB CAPS and Admission-Related Issues
The Registrar also examined complaints connected with the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).
- Cases reportedly addressed included candidates who:
- Lost their phones or SIM cards.
- Converted from Direct Entry (DE) to UTME.
- Had their names omitted from the National Matriculation List after graduation.
- Experienced other admission-processing difficulties.
- The National Matriculation List is particularly important to candidates because it records individuals who have been properly matriculated through the JAMB admission process.
- Other JAMB Issues Addressed
- The intervention also covered several technical and administrative complaints.
- These included:
- Payment difficulties
- e-PIN problems
- Inappropriate examination venues
- Technical challenges
- Difficulties uploading documents
- Change of name requests
- Date-of-birth-related issues
- Changes involving state of origin
- Local government area-related requests
JAMB said the intervention was designed to reduce delays and address outstanding cases more effectively. (The Guardian Nigeria)
What This Means for JAMB Candidates
The development could be significant for candidates who have previously experienced difficulties with JAMB services and were unable to resolve their complaints through the normal process.
The Board’s decision to strengthen the SERVICOM Unit and have the Registrar directly observe complaints signals an effort to make the complaint-resolution process more responsive.
However, candidates should still use official JAMB channels when reporting problems and provide accurate information and supporting documents where required. They should also avoid paying unofficial individuals who claim they can “solve” JAMB issues.
JAMB Service Delivery Under Prof. Segun Aina
The latest intervention comes as Prof. Segun Aina begins his tenure as JAMB Registrar with a stated focus on improving service delivery.
His direct involvement in the SERVICOM process is being presented by the Board as part of a broader effort to reposition JAMB and improve the experience of candidates and other clients.
With thousands of pending complaints reportedly cleared within five days, attention will now be on whether the strengthened system can continue resolving new complaints promptly and prevent large backlogs from building up again.
Conclusion
JAMB Registrar Prof. Aina has overseen the resolution of more than 5,000 pending complaints in five days, according to the Board’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol.
The complaints covered profile-code difficulties, biometric failures, payment and e-PIN problems, CAPS-related cases, technical issues, document uploads and other administrative challenges.
The Registrar’s decision to relocate to the SERVICOM Unit demonstrates a more direct approach to understanding and addressing candidates’ problems. JAMB says the initiative will support its broader goal of improving service delivery and reducing bureaucratic delays. (thisdaylive.com)
